Today's Motto

Whatever the day may hold, there are pancakes this evening.

I'm a lemon and sugar gal myself, and have a disgusting tendency to roll them up and eat them with my fingers, folded in half so the lemony syrup doesn't pour out. Some people sprinkle sugar - I dump vast quantities of it on the hot, crisp pancake, and then inundate the whole in lemon juice. Moderation, depart this place.

What's your filling of choice on Pancake Day?

Let's hear it for the lemon and sugar brigade!
Unfortunately the French go in for lemon OR sugar, especially street vendors
DH's family like ham and bechamel sauce - I can't stand bechamel, so ham and grated cheese it is for me now. Then they go nuts about nutella or jam or pure sugar, whereas I have to keep asking for lemon to go with my sugar.
I actually prefer caster sugar, which you can't really get here in France (poor deprived me)
At the moment we have a rather nifty jar of preserved orange in dark chocolate which is rather delish (in the same way a certain Ms Cohen finds a certain Cillian rather delish *wink*)

I love lemon and sugar too, but we went with the traditional maple syrup last night - no lemon in the house :-( As for filling, I added blueberries and grated apple :-)

Pancakes? Those look more like what I'd call crepes. We have them on Sundays with bavarian cream filling, apple or raspberries on top and a dusting of 10X sugar. YUM!

Strawberry jam and sour cream, although sugar and lemon's perfectly acceptable. My 17 year old daughter made ours on Tuesday. I think that's probably the first meal she's cooked since last pancake day. I fear her future will consist of pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
